Even if general purpose artificial intelligence does not emerge in the coming decades, I believe that incremental improvements such as this will lead to the replacement of most human labor by robot labor. Also, for dangerous jobs such as mining and the construction of bridges and tall buildings, I expect remote control and semi-autonomous robots will replace human workers. - Jed
