Hopefully the stored fuel rods have been either removed or treated in such a way that they can survive long periods without pumped cooling water. Fukushima 1 obviously may have to be abandoned at some point.

I have to wonder if the China Syndrome corium can be reached by drilling, such that dry mix control material, such as boron carbide beads, or borax, etc., can be pumped into the corium masses using a worm drive in the casing. Perhaps the regions below them could be reached and injected with control rod material, so that when it is reached by the corium the reaction will be subdued.
