Having been around the investor types and such for a number of years, this simply sounds like an obviously tech-non-savvy guy with a lot of money, who is willing to 'pull-the-handle' on a number of possibilities, and when they don't come thru on the ROI (Return on Investment), they take their $ elsewhere. purely a business decision.
