Regarding electronic controls, let me add that there is a difference between unplugging a device and having a power failure. I don't know about the Papp machine, but some of my power tools have a brake that engages when the power fails or when you turn off the power switch. If you unplug the machine, the brake does not engage. The user manual warns against unplugging.
