Most people who use LAMMPS with realistic force-fields (OPLS, TraPPE, etc.) 
are going to be using the "real" or "metal" units likely (most l likely 
"real"), which are in Angstrom.  They do have a "nano" unit and a "lj" unit 
which would work in nm, but most likely if you are going to be doing 
systematic coarse-graining from LAMMPS with an atomistic force-field you 
are going to be bringing with you a dump file which is in Angstroms.

Others might chime in if they disagree with my assessment from LAMMPS.

It's easy enough to convert, as I showed with the VMD script above, so not 
that big of a deal, once you realize there's a conversion of units needed.  
I would say it's low priority, but if you decide one day to add this option 
it would useful I am sure.
