Just figured I'd mention that new CPU features typically require support in BIOS. Laptops and low end tier-1 desktops (hp, ibm, dell, etc) often disable these features if they don't think they offer significant value to the end user. So things like virtualization, hyperthreading, 64 bit support, and related are sadly disabled on cheap hardware. Strangely that same hardware coming from tier-2/3 folks often enable those same features. So basically if you plan to use any similar features you have to check for support of both the BIOS and the CPU. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAktL28UACgkQBmOBO0n4EFXEQgCgoZ0WBRZS0MJJjpjP6i5Y/BZL HyUAn1PqEc0laitMpfvlQf7RmNZJVkYJ =lsIx -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ vox-tech mailing list vox-tech@lists.lugod.org http://lists.lugod.org/mailman/listinfo/vox-tech
