Hello,

what about http://lartc.org/wondershaper/ ? Works without kernel patching and compiling and no cost. BA on the other hand looks a bit dated and unmaintained. Kernel 2.6.5 is stoneold, and I'm sure there are a lot of bugs and security issues in it.

cheers

Hello list!

I am new here and this will be my project. I am a first timer with Voyage,
Alix and http://www.bandwidtharbitrator.com/ Bandwidth Arbitrator . Not a
complete Linux n00b but by no means an expert.

There is a lovely HowTo
http://www.linuxhelp.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=7763 here for BA 9.62
over Debian Sarge on a desktop.

Correct me if I am wrong, but since the BA source was written as a patch for
Kernel 2.6.5, I figure that it would probably be difficult to adapt it to a
modern Kernel. So my cunning plan so far is to install Voyage 0.1 Sarge on
the Alix and follow/adapt the Sarge HowTo linked to above, including the
Kernel downgrade to 2.6.5. If anyone thinks this is a dumb idea, please let
me know.

It seems that at the time of Voyage 0.1 Sarge, the Alix boards did not
exist, only the WRAP boards. Do you foresee any major issues installing
Voyage 0.1 on my Alix2d2, using the WRAP option of the voyage.update file?
(read: am I going to run into driver issues and have to patch and
recompile?). Or do you maybe think I would be better off starting with the
oldest version that was supporting Alix boards?

Any advice welcome. I will report the process here, and hopefully end up
leaving a modernized HowTo to the community for BA deployment which, given
the prices of NetEq devices, would be pretty good value imo!
