[voyager] Tearoff help

Hi all,
Could someone kindly explain what Tearoff is and does. I have had a tutu
(play)  with it and nothing is very clear as to what and how it works
or how to use it. The Help file doesn't seem to work either. Is there a
manual somewhere?
