No, it's not you.  Many sites don't follow the specification for w3
strict web pages. People create   'relaxed'   browsers to compensate
which is wrong IMO.

Try    http://validator.w3.org/chech/referer

and send the result to the site maintainer.

It's good to provide this link so they can check themselves. Most
people don't realize their sites are not w3 strict compliant.
