I'd say this behaviour comes from AGA. As an AGA (and any other native
Amiga Screen with up to 256 colors) is made out of bitplanes (as you
stated before), scrolling has to shift all bitplanes. With GFX cards,
there are no bitplanes, they are constructed "chunky".
So when scrolling your AGA screen when there is much CPU load, maybe you
can see the bitmap while some bitplanes are shifted, and some not yet.
So come your false colours and double images.
With GFX cards there is no such problem (not on 8bit screens and not on
16+ bit screens).
You know the solution, don't you?
BTW, another solution would be to use only 1 bitplane, but surfing in b/w
is no fun at all, I think.
You could still try to get a normal speed CPU (68060 or at least 68040).
Maybe this would help also.
