I've occasionally had this problem since I started using V. (Version
2.something) I'm almost certain it is a symptom of running out of
memory.
I simply quit V, close down any running programs I don't need and
perhaps throw in a reset for good measure.
Or of course you can switch off image loading
and just load the individual pics as you need them.
