I'd guess that every minute of every day, somewhere in the world IE is
crashing on a Java app. ;)
The accessibility of the internet is a double-edged sword. There is so
much good stuff out there, and so much bad.
I've been writing webmasters whenever I can, when I find thier sites
checking the User Agent string to determine cookie or SSL capability. I
tell them that that is not the way to do it. Three lines of JS code can
be used to check for cookie capability, without a care as to the browsers
pedigree. Certianly much better than the 20 to 30 lines they use to parse
and check the User Agent string and act "accordingly".
Lots of people need to clean up thier JS code. Turn on error reporting in
IE sometime when you are forced to use it, and watch what I mean. IE does
seem to be more tolerant for the most part, but the fault still lies with
the JS on the page. V just needs a little "toughening up".
