   You may be judging a situation prematurely.  Have you tried E-Mailing 
the author and asking him or her about updates?  When I had some dif-
ficulties with MUI, I inquired and Mr. Stuntz replied with the solution.

   Look at it this way, to this point, each of the programs/packages
produced and offered through SASG are being used more and more as support
and foundations for other software -- i.e. MUI used as underpinning for
Miami, Voyager, etc.  These programs/packages have also proven to be
very stable.  Perhaps not enough questions and suggestions and/or dif-
ficulties have been encountered for the authors to update/upgrade.  But,
insofar as receiving the goods after you have paid, that is a different
matter.  For that, you might want to contact the author directly.  After
all, the author will receive money only if his or her software is sold -
- product delivered for use, after payment.  Whereas, if the product is
not being deliviered, no one will want to buy it, and the author will
not earn any money.
