Hi All,

A number of you have been mentioning that you have been having dif-
ficulties navigating with V. You have said that a warning window pops
up telling you that the URL is not in Cache. Also, some of you have
complained that V crashes your system when you go to certain URL's.
Well, I decided to do an experiment before writing my beefs.

It suddenly occurred to me that, what if the setting which says
"Offline Browsing" were checked, would that have anything to do with the
error window appearing? Then, I wondered if the fact that anyone might
have told V to eliminate all in Cache, would that be responsible?

Ladies and gentlemen, here are my results:

I found that, if I made sure that the "Offline Browsing" were not
checked, I did not receive the error window. It seems that, if it is
checked then it looks to the cache and not the ISP, thus no connection.
Action to take -- make sure that "Offline Browsing" is not checked if
you want to "surf" the Web. This had nothing to do with having something
in Cache or not.

I unexpectedly suffered what a few of you had -- V crashing, suddenly,
and then my system crashing. I might have thought it had to do with my
settings or with Chip RAM or the URL, or, even my ISP, or my modem.
That would all make sense except for the fact that when I use AWeb, I
never have a crash like that. The only time everything crashed was when
too much Chip RAM was being requested at once, and this also happens
with V and IBrowse, not because of the browser, but because of the idio-
syncracies of the Amiga. If anyone wishes to try the URL, it is
http://www.mailcity.lycos.com. I have an E-Mail account there. Every-
thing crashed before I could even login.

Let me know your results and any work-arounds.

                                         Julian.
