I am very far from being an expert in this topic. I am sure others can
give a much better answer to this question.
I have been told something along these lines: ... well, actually I don't
think I know how to express it. The available Java compilers/virtual
machines on Aminet should not be suited for use with browsers for some
reasons. Daytone, which Holger had started working on, was suited for
browser, so therefore it was kind of a sad day when he announced he was
going to work for REBOL and as a consequence stop working on Daytona.
What would have distinguished Daytone from kaffe, guavac etc. I really
don't know -- this is for somebody else to tell.
It naturally doesn't depend solely on Holger, because I suppose it is
free for anybody to start and complete such a project. However, to my
knowledge Holger is only one who has started such a project.
In addition to Daytona or another similar implemention from somebody
else, I suppose you will have to need a plugin for Voyager to make it
work correctly. I am pretty sure a bit of Arexx scripting isn't enough
to give us Java with Voyager or any other Amiga browser.
