Just as much as you need - or very close to it. :)
It's really up to the needs of your's - if you regularly visit e.g. graphically
heavy (same) sites, the cache can speed up things considerably. The smaller
the cache, the fewer pictures and pages it holds, and the other way round.
Although, the data in one is fresher than in a big one, perhaps, if that's of
use - in most cases (that's up to the preferences, too) the browser does
update the data from the web, of course. Big cache also makes it possible to
look at many pages/sites off-line, when once visited.
