Turbo print will offer nothing for PostScript printing, it is designed
to enhance Preferences printing, especially to colour inkjets.
PostScript basically bypasses Prefs printing entirely. The difference is
that Prefs printing sends a bitmap (usually in strips), while PS printing
sends structured graphics. If there is a bitmap in a PS document, the
data are sent direct to the printer, and not broken into strips.
For non-PS printing to my HP LaserJet, I use Wolf's LaserDriver driver.
It works well with programs like Voyager that can't output PostScript,
but of course the quality is greatly inferior, especially for text.
There are 3 ways to print:
1. Text only. For example, DOpus will print a text file this way. The
non-proportional fonts in the printer are used. Ideal for printing
software code.
2. Bitmap transfer. This has always been the standard method for Amiga
graphics programs, and for the WB1.3 Notepad.
3. PostScript printing. This sends a program written in PostScript
language to the printer, which has a high power computer built in to
interpret it. (Ghostscript emulates this computer.)
Apologies to those who already know all this.
Regards
