im not sure. but there seems to be some ongoing debate about this on usenet.
however, since neither mozilla/netscape or opera do this, i do wonder.

im not sure a table cell alignment should inherit something outside
of the table. Its not greatly important now anyway, as i will go through my site 
making all left align additions in the td's..

i bet the next version of ie doesnt act like this :)
