I definitely did the "run as" on installation but probably not to launch the trace program. I will try that.

Hi Rick, I know this may sound obvious, but are you launching the trace utility with administrator privileges (right-click, run as administrator)? On Vista/Win7 you have to do this even if you are logged into an administrator account.
