So. I found this post http://lists.shrew.net/mailman/htdig/vpn-help/2008-May/000702.html
Removed the hidden network card Deleted "virtualnet.sys" or "vfilter.sys" under the WINDOWS>\system32\drivers directory. Unregistered shrew iked service Ran the uninstall routine Rebooted Reinstalled. No difference :( Same errors. However it gave me plenty of clues on how to fix and I finally fixed it by manually installing the protocol filter on the network adaptor (wireless) under network connection properties, install, then service Shrewsoft Filter - point it to c:\program files\shrewsoft\VPN Client\drivers. Current version is 2.2.0.3 (also in system32) More on my config: This is a 32-bit system that had installed at some point Checkpoint VPN, Netscreen Remote and 2 different versions of Shrew on it. Most likely my issue was related to those old installs? I am now back to my original issue however - unable to connect to multiple VPN's simultaneously - even with 2.1.7. Any more ideas? However, this is my driver issue: I have windows XP SP3. During "Shrew Soft Driver Configuration" - "Preinstalling Driver Package" I receive this error: DRIVER INSTALL ERROR - Access was denied. Please make sure you have administrative privileges. Yes, I do have administrative privileges. It happens when it is executing "drvcfg.exe -pre c:\..." (can't see the rest) I then get a repeat of the same error. I click OK (again). Now it's executing "netfcg.exe -add service pflt c:\..." (can't see the rest) ERROR- Error 0X80070005: Couldn't install the network component. Possible cause: Access is denied. The installation then completes and if I try to connect to anything I receive "network unavailable" Christina -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Stian Jordet Sent: Thursday, January 06, 2011 12:40 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [vpn-help] Connecting to multiple VPNs simultaneously Den 05.01.2011 21:43, skrev Matthew Grooms: > There was a problem with dynamically creating multiple instances of > virtual adapters that was corrected in 2.1.7. What driver installation > errors are you seeing? Just to confirm this, I never got simultaneous connections working before 2.1.7, but now everything is working perfectly! I've been around Shrew for a while, and 2.1.7 is really a very good release! No issues whatsoever for me :) Thank you very much for all your effort!
