many things, but it doesn't sound typical for 3 servers

I would try the same thing with 2.6.10/vs1.9.3.16 just
for a comparison ... if this still feels _that_ slow
then the hardware has some issues (i.e. dropping irqs
or going to power save/frequency scaling/etc)

I would say it's more than enough for 3 vservers, and
using more memory would not really help, but make things
worse (on 2.4 anyway)
