Yes, running from the original DB (actually a local filesystem-based
copy) is definitely the preferred route if possible. Six hours is a very
long time; either your VSS repo is friggin' huge, or you're running over
a sluggish LAN connection, in which case you definitely want to make a
local copy and run from there.
