Hi Hanspeter, A Tk or any Xll application is tightly locked into the Xserver, X display, X screen, keyboard handling etc. it's not indepedent in any way. Eg. the X server windows that are the physical window behind the Tk widgets will all die if the X server terminates, rendering all the structure in the Tk client into meaningless dangling pointers to lost X11 window id's. And a million other equivalent disasters. So the bottom line is you can't have a Tk application "survive" the loss of it's X server.
