As a first project I decided to make a VTCL front end for rDesktop, a remote desktop client for Linux. After my initial frustration with the ComboBox widget (and the misleading docs), I was well on my way.
Next source of trouble was the exec command. It seems to get confused if more than three switches are used after the argument, also each switch had to be held in a seperate variable: exec rdesktop $sw1 $sw2 $sw3 $ip. I finally realized that 'open' could be used. All switches and the IP are put into one variable and used like this: set f [open "| $prog $args" r] close $f All in all, VTCL is heaps a lot better than coding by hand, although I've managed to through it for a loop a few times (I think trying to minimize while in test mode).
