Applying Patches to tcl8.0

I can't post to comp.lang.tcl at the moment as our news feed is a bit 
unwell!

Can anyone help me with patching tcl8.0a1 with the patches from 

http://www.cs.uoregon.edu/research/tcl/


My patch program patch-2.1  on Linux complains about them and does 
nothing.  I assume these are intended for feeding into patch, and not for 
manual application?

BTW vtcl 1.07 looks nice, and I want to play with tclets so I need 
tcl/tk8.0
