The compound menu is a frame widget with three menubutton widgets
packed inside. To add new menu items, select one of the menubuttons
(with a left-click). From the "Options" menu, choose "Select Parent"
which will make the frame the insertion point for new widgets. Make
sure you have the "packer" geometry manager selected. Now click the
"menubutton" icon from the widget toolbar. This will insert a new
menubutton. You will have to use the packer properties to make sure
this is packed on the left side. To edit the menu associated with
 the menubutton, double-click it.

After selecting the button (with a left-click), you may click on the
"..." button on the attribute bar or double-click the button. Both
actions will bring up a command window. You can type any tcl commands to
 associate with the button there.
