OK, I think I see now. 

When I click on a widget, such as a button or text widget, its _parent_
becomes the insertion point. Then, if I click on Options/SetInsert, the
widget _itself_ becomes the insertion point. Not that I can think of a 
way to use this yet, but at least I see what it does. Thanks!
