Actually MetaCard isn't platform specific. It is available now on all
popular UNIX platforms and Windows 3.1/95/NT. A version for the Mac
is in public alpha test. As for being proprietary, MetaCard uses the
same language as HyperCard, SuperCard, OMO, HyperSense, and other
products, though these tools have all made various extensions to the
language (as has happened to Tcl through things like [incr tcl]).

A good plan. You could do this with MetaCard as well, and since a
complete GUI layout tool is built-in to MetaCard, your users wouldn't
have to muck around with scripts to do simple things like change
fonts, layouts, etc.

No problem. Please keep MetaCard in mind if you need something that
has support for multimedia features like movie playback animation,
etc. or built-in full-text database support.
