End The Occupation of Iraq! Troops Out Now!

A panel discussion will be held on Saturday evening, January 15, in 
Contois
Auditorium at 7:00 PM on ending the occupation, bringing our troops 
home now,
building the antiwar movement, and resisting the attack on workers in 
Iraq and
at home.

The event will highlight and support the resolution currently before 
City
Council calling for U.S. troops to be brought home now, and which 
activists are
gathering petition signatures for to ensure it appears on Burlington's 
City
Meeting ballot on March 1.

Speakers confirmed so far include:

Anthony Arnove: author, editor, and activist; most recently he 
co-edited with
Howard Zinn "Voices of a People's History of the United States;" edited 
"Iraq
Under Siege."

Colleen McLaughlin: Member of Military Families Speak Out, an 
international
organization calling for their relatives on active duty in Iraq be 
brought home
now, and an end of the occupation.  Colleen's son is currently 
stationed in
Iraq.

Gerard Colby: Steering Committee member of U.S. Labor Against the War;
President, National Writers' Union; President, Champlain Valley Labor 
Council.
Hard-hitting investigative journalist and author or co-author of 
several major
books, including "Du Pont: behind the nylon curtain," and "Thy Will Be 
Done:
the conquest of the Amazon : Nelson Rockefeller and Evangelism in the 
age of
oil."

There will be time for discussion and questions following the panelists'
remarks.

If you are a Burlington registered voter and don't have time to hear 
the whole
panel, please stop by to sign the petition to place the Troops Out Now
resolution on the ballot for March 1.
