Hi all,
I'm interested in helping these folks come to Vermont. This seems like a
good follow-up to the town meeting that happed at the library in December.
I've talked with two of the performers, and they say they've had success
reaching a diverstiy of communities.
Please read on for a description of the event.
I'm assuming VTJP funds are mostly reserved for bringing the art show.
Would we be able to contribute a small amount along with other
organizations?
They are interested in a theater space with lighting. I'm thinking of
Champlain College's theater or the Royal Tyler at UVM.

Hello there.

My name is Ray Young. I am a member of Liberty Cabbage Theatre Revival
and Iïm writing to you because I think youïll be interested in our show
that is touring to Colleges and Universities this spring.

"An Olive on the Seder Plate" is a Multi-media
Performance exploring how progressive Jews wrestle
with the Israeli military occupation of the West Bank
and Gaza strip. While the politics expressed challenge
the policies behind the occupation, the show
consistently approaches the issues from multiple
perspectives, and addresses Jewish concerns of
anti-Semitism as well as Jewsï desire for a sense of
Home.

After an incredibly successful tour this past autumn,
and a sold-out run in Philadelphia last spring, weïve
decided to take the show on tour again. This spring
An Olive on the Seder Plate, and our accompanying
workshop, will be on tour throughout
the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest. We want to
give you the opportunity to bring the performance to
your campus.

Our tour is currently being scheduled for March
through Mid-April of 2005. We are asking for a
student group or groups to host the play for a sliding
scale fee of $1,000-$3,000.
(other amounts are negotiable, but this fee offsets
the cost of travel and equipment.) The performance is
then FREE for students, faculty, staff, and community
members.

Following each performance, we will also
facilitate a group discussion relating to content from
the show, audience membersï responses, and activity
around the conflict in your local area. Also, if
schedules are permitting, we can facilitate a more
in-depth workshop with students.

We would love to talk with you about the possibility
of adding your campus to our tour schedule.

If you would like more information or are interested
in booking a show, please contact

Don't miss this rare opportunity to bring a
multi-media performance about Israel and Palestine to
your campus!

Thanks for your interest.
Ray Young.

"An Olive on the Seder Plate" is a collaboration
between over a dozen Jewish musicians, performers,
artists and activists in the Philadelphia area.
Content of the show is discussed on an on-going basis
with leading Palestinian and Jewish peace activists.
As the Liberty Cabbage Theatre Revival has
demonstrated in the past, performance art provides a
(literal) stage for discussion of complex and
difficult topics.

This show is a creative, innovative, and much-needed
contribution to on-going peace and social justice work
in the United States and throughout the
world.
