MARCH 20TH ANTI-WAR RALLY, BURLINGTON
1:00 PM
CITY HALL STEPS
CHURCH STREET - BURLINGTON, VT

This March 20th will mark the second anniversary of the current invasion of Iraq and the occupation continues.  Over fifteen hundred American troops and sixteen thousand Iraqis have died.  The administration feeling emboldened by recent elections in the U.S. and Iraq have been putting increasing pressure on Iran and Syria.  Also as troops return home, such as the Vermont Guard, they are receiving insufficient services for everything from jobs to medical and psychiatric problems they face. However small struggles have been taking off across the U.S. which show the potential for a struggle.  These include the anti-war resolutions passed in 48 towns across Vermont and the successful counter-recruitment actions that have been happening on college campuses across the country like in Seattle, Washington, New Haven, Connecticut, and here at UVM.  The Burlington Antiwar Coalition is calling for a protest March 20th in celebration and solidarity with these struggles and with the antiwar protests going on across the country and world that weekend.  We are calling for the troops to be brought home now and for the U.S. to keep its hands off of the rest of the Middle East!  We also demand that the government take care of the troops once they do come home!
