1. In the latest release of VTK (5.4.2), HasInformation() is a method
of class vtkAbstractArray, a superclass of vtkDataArray.
2. I don't understand what you don't understand :-) cvs head is the
development version of VTK so it has the most recent additions to the
source directory. Therefore a release is always behind in terms of
features. Look at the following diagram:
cvs/svn head-----+------------------------------+---------------> head
| |
+----> release 1 +-----> release 2
3. The message you are referring to is from January 2009, before VTK
5.4.2 was out.
4. The FAQ says that VTKEdge svn compiles against VTK CVS

5. The FAQ also says that you can download the release branch of VTKEdge with:
$ svn co https://www.kitware.com:8443/svn/KWPublic/trunk/VTKEdge-5-4-0 VTKEdge

Maybe I should add to the FAQ that VTKEdge-5-4-0 compiles against VTK 5.4.x.
