Hello,

I recognized that VTKEdge's GLSL GPU volume mapper
(vtkKWEGPUVolumeRayCastMapper) was completely moved to VTK
(vtkGPUVolumeRayCastMapper). This is really great as it implies BSD-like
licensing terms. I think the GPLv3 license is just to inflexible and therefore
not applicable for a lot of users.

However, an application from me that currently uses and extends VTKEdge's
vtkKWEGPUVolumeRayCastMapper suffers a bit from this migration step. This is no
problem or surprise as VTKEdge has not really been released, yet.
Therefore I would like to ask if Kitware is planning to migrate all VTKEdge
classes to VTK sooner or later? Is there any publicly available source of
information where current VTKEdge users can get a bit more of information what
is going to happen to VTKEdge within the next months? Will the whole set of
classes move to VTK and underlie a BSD-like license?

Thank you!

lars
