For those of you adventurous folks out there, I'd like to point out that I
have implemented cut/copy/paste of canvas elements in the copy-paste branch
of the desktop component plugins. It hasn't corrupted by workspace in a few
hours so have fun. Joking aside, this is definitely not production grade
yet so don't use it in a production install.
The functionality makes full use of the java->native->java life cycle so all
forms pasting are available:
Same application pasting
Same workspace different application pasting
different eclipse instance pasting
When we make the break from 3.3 and 3.4 and above, we will also be able to
support copying graph elements and pasting them as an image into
applications that accept that data transfer type. Please try this out if
you have some free time as this is the type of feature that really needs a
lot of eyes and hands on.
