[DISCUSS] Migration of source control to git

Hi VXQuery team,

I want to start a discussion around moving our source to git from svn. 
Please reply with your thoughts and if there is no disagreement, I can 
create an infra JIRA to initiate the process. Looking at the Wave 
project's experience, it looks like its a fairly quick process to get 
the project up and running on git.

If we do decide to make teh shift, I would like to do so before the next 
incubating release so that we can make sure that our release process 
works with git.
