There is one thing you may try:

./w3af_console -t

That will run a lot of test scripts that are located in the "scripts"
directory; the problem with that is that you first have to setup a
test environment. The test environment is available here [0]. It
shouldn't be hard to setup. We are working on a vmware image with the
test environment; but that won't be available for at least three
weeks.

If you want to, you may also send the patch here, and we'll also review it :)
