I think, as metioned earlier, that I have also heard that a float TUBE does
not require a lifejacket..a BOAT does.  It may be necessary to  redefine a
pontoon BOAT as a pontoon tube to avoid the use of a floatation vest and the
long arm of the law! Remember, whatever devise you use has to say...COAST
GUARD APPROVED. Jere   And a good question to ask them, "Do I really need to
carry a fire extinguisher and a flare gun in my Pontoon boat?
