Fished Kayak Point yesterday afternoon on the incoming tide, hoping
find the odd straggler cutt or early running coho, working small
streamers and Leland's Poppers on floating lines. Beautiful day to be
on the water, but not so much as a bump or slash. According to the
park ranger, by the September 16 salmon season opener, there should
be "coho jumping all over the place".

Stopped by Richmond Beach park on the way back, but the beach was
so fouled with pieces of eel grass and other weeds it was unfishable.
Huge dense mats of what appeared to be similar debris were stretched
out in rips extending along the beach for half a mile or so out. Looked
like an algae bloom on a eutrophic lake. Have no idea what's going on,
but it's definitely a major gear fouler.
