The Fortson hole is the only hole on the Stilly right now that has all the
species Patrick caught. I'm sure he used some of his stealthy Rocky Ford
techniques to get these fish to bite:) I went down there Saturday
afternoon and the fish saw me coming even before I pulled off the highway.
After casting my floating line with a 15 foot fluorocarbon tippet several
times and literally watching the fish scatter as my line hit the
water......I left and went home. Needless to say the water is very low and
clear.
The main stem Stilly has been kicking out lots of decent cutts for me over
the last couple of weeks. Reversed spider and spruce work well along with
some hoppers and craneflies. Seen lots of coho too but not one that would
take my fly. I would stick to the lower river this time of year.
Sincerely,
