This isn't a Washington report but Alaska is sort of near by.

Got back last a week ago Monday from the Tsiu river north of Yakatat.
I went and stayed at the Tsiu river lodge for 6 days. To sum it up:
The wind was lousy, the rain was lousy, there was even horizontal
blowing hail one day. However, the silver fishing was great. So, those
other things didn't seem to bad.

We fished the river about a mile up from the mouth. The silvers were
moving up river in large schools. They were big mean agressive fish
who were raised in bad neighborhoods. I was into my backing a couple
of times with some hot fish trying to head back to the ocean. Chartruse
flies were pretty good. I used what was called spanker in chartruse and
sometimes in purple. Other guys I fished with were using purple egg
sucking leeches and going great. We fished them in a down and across
manner with slow strips. Lots of fish were caught by all.

On a side note. There was a small bit of water that steelhead hung out in.
I landed and released one. Two other guys in my group did the same.

I am just starting to lose the soreness in my hands and arms from fighting
all those fish. But, definitely, fun was had for all.
