Saturday, fished just upstream of the canyon. It was my first time on the Yakima. I landed the first fish on an Elk Hair Caddis (12" bow - 6x tippet). I ALWAYS start out with an EHC.. Its superstition for me.
One of the other guys I was with was nymphing big stones, and landed three beauties in 16"-17" range. Tiny BWOs about 2pm, not a lot, but enough to rise a couple between 2 and 3:30pm. (Both Missed) My #18 BWOs were mutant looking compared to the naturals #20-#22. Didnt see anything but dinks rising to the naturals. Again, the other guy I was with who fished the Yak a lot mentioned next time we would head into the canyon, even though it gets a little crowded. The real disappointment of the day, was the amount of trash I saw along the banks. Much worse than the Stilly during the Pink run...
