Man, all this talk of efficiency is bumming me out!! I'm just getting ready to start going through two rooms and my garage and pack up my truck... I have NOTHING to offer in terms of efficiency <g>.
-Jim ps: okay, one thing: when tying flies don't put your scissors down, just keep a loop on a finger. Saves precious moments when batching out flies. I think that tip comes from a Kaufman book. -----Original Message----- From: Leland Miyawaki [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, November 16, 2001 5:11 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: FlyFishing efficiency tips? I don't know how much time one needs to save to be efficient. I guess that means not rummaging around in a couple rooms and a garage in order to pack for a trip. In my car at this moment, I have an 8wt speyrod and a 6wt beachrod in their respective cases. I have a tackle bag containing two reels, two extra spools, one vest, leader spools, and flyboxes. I also have a wader bag with shoes and waders and a clothes bag with all my warmies. They will not leave my car until this spring or longer. The only thing I do when I come home from fishing is hang my waders on the spare tire to dry. If I have fished a beach, I wash my reel and let it dry in the car. Some of the guys I fish with wader up faster because they have bootfoots. Some have the rod/reel holders. I've always gotten my line all tangled in those things so I've never owned one. I assemble my rod and string up the line every time. That allows for me to make sure my ferrules are tight and that the only knots in my leader are the ones I tied. I haven't been left behind yet. All this repitition and rhythm through the years has resulted in, not so much speed, but things not left undone and, most importantly, forgotten at home. Leland.
