Craig,

Get a copy of Chris Batins Fishing for Dollar$ a Day.
http://www.alaskaangler.com/books/dollars.htm#top

He gives reviews on 220 wilderness cabins in AK. Most of these cabins are
run and operated by the US Forest Service in SE AK. He also talks about the
cabin locations in relation to fishing access and species you can expect to
catch.

Look and see if you can find a copy at B&N so that you can peruse it before
you buy it. It may not be what you were expecting.

That said, after you read the cabin reviews, you will want to find out when
REI is going to have its next garage sale (after reading your email address,
you don't need to wait for the garage sale). Stories of animal infestation
and dis-repair are frequent.

All it really takes is an REI 4-5 man tent, a low style cot, a camp stove
and rain fly and you have everything you need to DIY. With this setup, two
people can live in relative comfort if you don't take the lousy AK weather
into consideration. Then you aren't bound by the Forest Service reservation
system and you can make camp as close to the fishing as you want.

The descriptions of the fishing locations are worth the price of the book.

Regards

Mike
