For those of you, like me, that for the most part seek the "Zen" of nature and fly-fishing, you can take a 2wt or 3wt to just about ANY piece of non-stagnant water in this state and actually expect to catch fish. Now, I frequent streams where 8-10 inch trout are the norm, and a 12inch is a monster. Imagine the thrill when I picked off a 14Inch bow in a stream not 4ft across... (Everythings relative) You can typically go whole days without seeing another soul or hearing an engine.
Now having said that.. Fly-Fishing is also pretty fun when you hook a 18" Brown elbow to elbow and your heart stops, and your brain has to adjust from ' Cast, Mend, pickup, cast, mend, pickup" to " Set, throttle, steer, reel, wait.. dont reel, throttle, less pressure you idiot!, damn I hope that knot holds! Why didnt I retie it! ok, now reel.... etc.." It feels pretty good to get that big ol' grin as you turn to look at the other guys on the bank, and they watch with mouth agape, and without saying a word they know what your thinking... "I am the king! bow down before me!". For those days.. I imagine sleeping in the Mosquito infested, mud puddle of a 'Parking ground', would be well worth it..
