I will check into his shop on my trip in June. I know the secret to getting
good information and service from the Silver Creek Outfitters. You must
enter the store with your Gold Card hanging on a chain around your neck so
they can see it right away.

I'd take the time to hit Bill Mason's shop. In three trips through, I have
always found him to be pleasant, informed, and interesting to talk to. He
has declined to sell me flies after I told him what I already had in my box
and what hatches I was hoping to hit, and has suggested several interesting
twists (locations and techniques) that I certainly did not get from Silver
Creek Outfitters. Come to think of it, I learned nothing useful shopping at
Silver Creek Outfitters. I think that I was too under dressed (or under
shaven or under washed depending on the trip) to qualify for service
there... (IMHO)

Hi,

This is slightly off topic, but I thought I'd ask.

My wife and I and our 3 year old daughter are looking
for someplace to spend a week or so this August. She
doesn't fish, so we need some kind of a compromise.

I think we have settled on Sun Valley, ID. As well as
hiking and biking and the other outdoor stuff, she
also wants in-town, touristy type things to do. From
what I understand, the fishing isn't bad in the area
either, so I'm sure I can sneak away for a few hours
every day.

Has anybody stayed in Ketchum or Sun Valley proper. I
would be interested in hearing any recomendations for
lodging. I've been looking on the net, but I might as
well pick a place out of the phone book. I would
rather hear first-hand info if anyone has any.

TIA,
--ken
