Actually, 

I can speak for the co' situation as last Saturday night I camped out out west of 
Potholes Reservoir.  The thermometer showed that it was 20-something degrees at night, 
but its a different 20-something than western WA.  Its drier.  In the tent you create 
kind of a micro-climate and your breathing probably bumps the temperature up 8 
degrees.  If you have a sleeping bag good to zero, you'll be just fine.  In fact, I 
had to take my stocking cap off in the middle of the night because I was getting too 
warm.  I'd take him up on the offer.  He's going to a couple of sweet places, he's 
done the homework, you won't regret it.  I'd go, but I have work to contend with this 
week.
