So yesterday, I take my friend, Rick, to the Snoqualmie to fish for steelhead.

Many years ago, when we used to fish the Wenatchee (it really used to be open for steelhead!), Rick lost the first three steelhead he hooked. He's a single father now and he hasn't been able to put in the time it takes to catch steelhead with any consistency. Yesterday, I took him out and showed him a few of the runs I fish and how to fish them. We didn't catch anything but he is a quick study. Today, he called me at 11:30 with the story of his first Snoqualmie steelhead. At 5:30, I went to the same riffle and caught another. His was a 24" hatchery buck and mine was a 28" hen. We'll be having a big BBQ sunday afternoon.

Leland.
