I noticed the flyshop in Ballard that had been there for at least several years shut down recently - the name escapes me at the moment, but it was just off 15th near 65th. I know they ran a guide service and had a decent shop - sad to see it go.

On the topic of list participation, for what it is worth I introduced myself to the list quite awhile back after being a "lurker" for almost a year and did not receive a single reply - no big deal, but felt it was worth mentioning per the topic.

I have not been able to fish since the arrival of my first child but I "fish" vicariously through the contributors of this list on a weekly basis. I would donate to keeping the list alive if the idea is pursued.

Happy Holidays to all -

It's been my observation that in order to prosper they have to adapt. The ones that just keep on doing business the same old way appear to be having trouble. It seems like they really have to be aware of who makes up their customer base and track changes in their customer base, look for new opportunities (species, location and methods) and maybe most important be willing to expand to the web.

I'm not always really happy with the changes but it seems to keep them in business.
