I just fished it yesterday for the first time.  What a great river.  There was so much fishable water.  Seemed like very little of it couldn't be fished.  I have the same report, lot's of rainbow and the counter had the same numbers on Wednesday.  No Steelhead sighted or caught.  Saw Salmon on their redds, and a few caught by others.  Kinda thought they were Coho as I didn't know the Chinook were running, but I may be wrong and willing to take some constructive criticism.

Subject: Methow report

Fished the Methow Saturday evening and Sunday daytime...

Hooked something on my 3rd cast that took me well into my backing, but I think it was one of the many chinook splashing around in the pool.

Saturday, landed 5 trout, including a beautiful 20 inch cutt, all on egg patterns, and one 15+ pound chinook foul hooked in the belly.  But no steelhead.

I've never seen the trout in the Methow so fat!   They are obviously gorging on all the Chinook eggs, it's very cool to see.

On Sunday, we fished a number of spots in the lower river around Methow and Carlton.  My buddy hooked what was probably a steelhead on an articulated leech, but it came unbuttoned.   Two lost trout for me for the day, it was much slower Sunday for some reason for us, and according to a WDFW fish checker we talked to, everybody else.

He said he had checked 16 fishermen, and there had been 5 steelhead landed, Saturday was much better, and of course, Friday on the opener was the best.
