Being the contrarian that I am, I celebrated Mothers Day with my wife on
Saturday, with the expectation of having some solitude on Sunday at the lake.
I hit the lake in the afternoon - I guess I was expecting less folks there
figuring that they'd be tied to home and Mother-in-laws' house, but I think a
lot of people combined their love of fishing with their duties to mom!

Plenty of boats on the lake, and lots of folks camping around the shore.
Parking was backed WAY up on the road, but interestingly, there were plenty of
spaces up in the upper trailer lot - must have been quite the exodus after the
morning rush.

Anyway, fishing was slow when I got there (2PM) but picked up as a squall front
came in about 4PM. Using olive willeys (with and w/o red beadhead), I picked
up 4-5 around the stumps on the SW side of the lake using a clear sinking line
and 5x tippet. I was also able to pick up a couple on a size 12 parachute
adams with a GRHE dropper fished in the shallower sections of the lake. Then
as the cold part of the squall settled on the lake and the wind and rain
started in earnest, the fishing got cold. Most fish were the cookie cutter
11-12", but 2 were in the 2LB+ range.

LOTS and LOTS of bugs coming off, but the rises didn't seem to reflect that.
Size 12 Calibaetis, size 14 gray/brown chironomids, and even some size 14 brown
caddis.

Fun day with a 2wt. The lake isn't as down as I've seen it, but it's still 4-5
lower than usual.
